Player Attendance Policy
Marking Attendance in the HPSA App (see image). While many things about the HPSA app are similar, although more automated, than TeamSnap, one major difference between the HPSA app and TeamSnap is in marking attendance. While the philosophy of TeamSnap was to “mark availability,” the HPSA app defaults to players attending every practice and game. By design, the default highlights our perspective on attendance, which is that we assume players will attend all practices and games unless a parent informs us otherwise.
HPSA Attendance Policy. While attendance in the summer is flexible due to camps, family vacations and out-of-town travel, the HPSA Attendance Policy is that once the school year begins, practices and games are mandatory. Excused absences include illness, family emergency, religious holiday or school conflict, and must be marked in the HPSA app and communicated to the Team Manager before as soon as possible when players are ill, at least one week in advance of a game and at least one month in advance of a tournament.
Consequences to not upholding HPSA’s attendance policy are up to the coach’s discretion. Repeat unexcused absences are not permitted, and offenders will be put on probation and could be removed from the team. HPSA is a competitive soccer club that trains players to be accountable and to demonstrate commitment.
Game Arrival. HPSA players warm up 30 minutes before game time. This means that players should be on the field, ready to warm up 30 minutes before kickoff. Some players prefer to spend a few minutes mentally and physically preparing for the game, using the restroom, or listening to music. If this sounds like your player, plan to arrive more than 30 minutes prior to game time.
