Open Tryouts – What to Expect

Open tryouts are intended for prospective players and current players who want to play next year.  Players will be met at Open Practice by a Team Manager who will introduce the player to the coach and answer any parent questions.  Parents may watch the practice, but they are not allowed on the field.  Siblings are also not permitted on the field or in any other areas wherein the practice is taking place.  Parents may be asked to leave if siblings become a distraction to the coach or players.

Evaluation Period

Monday May 20th will be our final open practice tryouts for new players per the schedule below. For those that missed them, depending on space available, we will have more open practice tryouts over the summer beginning in mid-June once the city releases their facilities reservations, hopefully by the end of May and we will let you know.

After the evaluation period is complete, the coach will contact the 2018-2015 Academy player’s parents or speak directly to the Select player.  Coaches explain their assessment of the player’s skill level compared to that of the team.  The conversation will help set expectations for skill development required and playing time.  The conversation is also an opportunity for players and parents to ask the coach questions and determine whether becoming a member of HPSA is the right choice for their family.
