Futsal Skills Training

The HPSA Futsal training program focuses on helping players refine their skills in ball control and footwork while quickly accumulating a high number of touches on the ball.  Players will improve in areas such as 1v1 dribbles, tactical awareness, and finding and creating space.

Futsal’s low-bounce ball is smaller and heavier than a normal outdoor soccer ball.  As a result, when a Futsal ball is received, it seems to ‘stick’ to the foot, which helps players develop confidence as they receive quick passes and are then able to play through tight spaces.  While the weight of the ball makes the ball easier to receive, it also makes the ball more difficult to strike, gradually eliminating the ‘lazy pass’.  The smaller size and weight of the ball encourages a more precise striking of the ‘sweet spot’ on the ball, which helps players understand the techniques involved in bending their knee, turning their hips, and striking the ball firmly.

Club soccer is increasingly using Futsal in skills training programs to develop players who think and move the ball faster and score more frequently.  HPSA is proud to add it to our programming as we strive to equip teams with the most up-to-date training available.
